The Book Bird has landed -
Quentin Blake's Book Bird has been mounted in the casino this week. Please treat this precious piece of wall art with great respect.
Quentin Blake created this picture and presented it to the school when it first opened in 2002. The original painting has been reframed and put up in the library for all visitors to enjoy.
The Golden Age / Goldene Zeiten!
Remember the old, ugly, rusty dustbin in front of the students' entrance?
Thanks to the Selow family it has metamorphosed in the most pleasant way...

... after 15 years at Quentin Blake Europe School we have to sadly say good bye to Mr Steven Lange, the most wonderful teacher, musician, leader of the school choir AND songwriter.
Dear Mr Lange,
we wish you many happy years in good health with good friends and all the wonderful things in life!
We'll keep your songs alive!
And we'll keep in touch and come see you perform on stage with Singadream.
The board of the Förderverein's farewell present to Mr. Lange
was a little bronze statue of Matilda. The miniature model of the - our vision!! - big Matilda statue that will be out in our courtyard one day is the second one out of ten made by artist Chavarch Khatchatrian. # 1, by the way, will of course go to Quentin Blake.

Benni Brems passt auf
To make the way to school safer,
the board decided to spend 100 Euros to buy two "Benni Brems" figures and put them near the zebra crossing to raise cardrivers' alertness. Let's hope it works!

New information board on 1st floor
Since the Student's entrance will be closed for security reasons during the school day, the old info board is not accessible any more. We're setting up a new info board near the secretary's office on first floor. The main entrance can be used at any time to get there and find out what's going on in Förderverein and Library.Please check out our Website for news as well.

Welcome!
The Förderverein Friends of the Quentin Blake Europe School e.V. is immensely pleased to be able to welcome two new members to our library team: Maryse Benzler and Karen Craig.
We are actually welcoming Maryse Benzler back, since several years ago
she was instrumental in getting our library out of the card box and into
the computer age by putting the entire library into a computer data
base as well as writing and finding programs to run the library check
out system. To our great good fortune she is returning to us as our
technical expert.
Karen Craig, a native speaker, mother at the school and warm-welcoming spirit, will be joining Georgina Morris, our innovative and hard working staff member, as our native speaker librarians.
With this industrious team we will be able to have the library open for more hours per week, process books more quickly; and in general keep our Quentin Blake English Library, the heart of the school, vibrant and beating strong.
Karen Craig, a native speaker, mother at the school and warm-welcoming spirit, will be joining Georgina Morris, our innovative and hard working staff member, as our native speaker librarians.

"Peter Pan", this year's musical production was on stage June 25 and 26. What a wonderful performance by students, teachers and parents! The Förderverein supported the project by paying for GEMA-fees and other expenditures.
On June 23 2011 by-elections to the board were held by the General Meeting:
Martin Selow (Chairperson / Vorsitzender), Franz Pfeifer (Treasurer / Schatzmeister), Kathrin Finke, Heidi Klotz, Angelika Wilhelm-Rechmann (Board Members / Beisitzerinnen)
On May 24 2011 a new Board was elected by the General Meeting:

Farewell to 2010-11 Board

We are proud to have introduced and established new practices, from our Funding Procedure, Newsletter, Website, extra winter AGs, cleaning action to participating/supporting/running of many school events. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work for the members of the Förderverein and the school community.
